Exploring the Nature of Everyday Heroism

At HIP we draw upon a wide range of psychological principles and practices, as well as related literature from other scientific domains in order to create and implement our interventions in schools and businesses. However, the heart of our educational philosophy and methodology comes to us from two foundational psychological models. Elements of each of them are present in all of our materials, lessons, and workshops. They are:

The goals of teaching these models are to help students of all ages, backgrounds, and cultures to:

–Learn key psychological, social, and critical thinking skills that can be used across a broad range
of life situations, in the present and the future.

–Effectively resist negative or unwanted social influence.

–Initiate positive personal, social, and systemic change.

–Form the social support networks they need to grow and thrive.

–Engage and succeed in wise acts of everyday heroism.
