Character strengths of justice are interpersonal concerns taken to a broad level.

They focus on the relationship of the individual to the group and to the larger community. The character strengths of the virtue justice are citizenship, fairness, and leadership.

Character Strengths of Justice:

Citizenship

Citizenship refers to a sense of responsibility for the common good. The common good includes one’s own needs, but also incorporates the broader needs of the group and society at large. Individuals with an especially high strength of citizenship may feel a common ethnic/cultural bond to the entire country or even the whole human race.

Fairness

Fairness is the process by which individuals develop their moral standards and their overall sense of right and wrong. Moral reasoning and ethical behavior are the primary considerations of a fair individual.

Leadership

Leadership refers to a composite of internal skills, perceptions, traits, and behaviors, which result in a tendency to influence, organize, and promote the well being of others. Leadership is also a social act in which there is often a clear distinction between leaders and followers.
